ABYSS is a forward-thinking, community-driven brewery born in the cellar of The Pelham Arms, Lewes in 2016. Founded by Andy Bridge and Andrew Mellor - friends who met at art school - it grew from a shared passion for hop-forward beers, bold visual identity and the culture that surrounds them.

From dark to light, ABYSS brew modern beers with big personalities - expressive, experimental and unapologetically bold. What began as a cellar operation has grown into an award-winning brewery with a cult following and an ever-evolving range of fresh, original beers.



Our beer portfolio is built around three distinct collections: the Core Range, Regulars and Innovation. The Core Range features the beers that have become the backbone of ABYSS, like SUPER PALE (GF), GONZO (GF), SUPERFUZZ and DANK MARVIN, while the Regulars bring back much-loved favourites throughout the year. Innovation provides the freedom to explore new styles, ingredients and brewing techniques, ensuring there's always something new to discover alongside the classics.

Along the way, ABYSS has built a reputation for pushing boundaries - not just in flavour, but in how beer intersects with art, music and culture.

Collaboration sits at the heart of everything we do - whether brewing with other independent breweries, working alongside local producers, partnering with artists and musicians or supporting community projects, we believe the best ideas come from bringing people together.
