The ABYSS Brewery + Tap is located in the historic Davey's Lane area of Lewes, inside a former 18th century maltings building that once served the neighbouring South Downs and Tamplins Brewery. Opened in October 2021, it's where ABYSS beers are brewed, poured and enjoyed, celebrating the town's long brewing heritage while creating something distinctly modern.
Brewed on site and served fresh, our 12 rotating taps showcase the latest ABYSS beers, including our highly rated 0.5% IPA, MICRODOSE. Also served is a range of low-intervention wines, cocktails and quality soft drinks. Whether you're discovering our latest collaboration, returning for an ABYSS favourite or just meeting friends in our yard, we are proud to offer something for everyone.

Our food offering comes from Boho Baja, the team behind The Pelham Arms, serving Southern California-inspired tacos and burgers from their beautifully restored vintage Airstream. Freshly roasted coffee from our neighbours at Tigermoth Roastery is also available.
The ABYSS Brewery + Tap is also home to regular events: in the summer months, our Cycle and Kayak Club use the Tap as the start and end point to endless adventures. From Autumn to Spring, we hold regular Krazy Kraft and Pub Quiz nights, Saturday mornings are for Twerkacise, Saturday nights the finest DJ’s. Check our events page or sign up to our newsletter via the homepage to see what's coming up.

Whether you're stopping by for a quick pint, catching up with friends or settling in for theafternoon, there's plenty of space both inside and out. Come and join us in this hidden corner of historic Lewes.

BREWING IN LEWES
ABYSS first began brewing beneath The Pelham Arms in Lewes in 2016, after meeting a lot of our customers during lock down (socially distanced!), we successfully crowd funded and opened our current brewery in 2021. Today, every beer is brewed on site, from hop-forward hazy’s, crisp lagers to imp stouts, seasonal releases and collaborations, all poured in the same space.
Brewing fresh, modern beer is at the heart of everything we do. Inspired by tradition butalways looking ahead, we focus on quality, creativity and brewing beers with character—best enjoyed where they're made, in the heart of our brewery.
